1. How do I figure out how much data I need?

Q Link Wireless now offers additional monthly data at the lowest rates around! Data can be used for email, web browsing, videos, music, social media, downloads, and more.

But how do you know which data plan is right for you?

2. What is the Lifeline program?

The Federal Lifeline Assistance Program is a government benefit program that helps low-income individuals and households receive basic telecommunication services for free or at a discounted rate. Lifeline was created in the 1980s by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) under the Reagan Administration. The program originally provided low-income households the ability to receive discounted or free landline phone service.

Later, in 2005, Lifeline was updated to also include wireless phone services. The program makes sure low-income households are not cut off from basic wireless services that everyone now depends on to live safe, productive lives.

Q Link Wireless is the fastest-growing provider of the Lifeline program, and offers Lifeline service to eligible people living in America. Although eligibility varies by state, generally those who participate in a government benefit program like Medicaid, Food Stamps (SNAP) or SSI, or those who meet state specific income criteria, may qualify.

5. Are incoming calls free?

Both incoming and outgoing calls will count against your minutes. Incoming calls start counting when you press the button to accept the call. Outgoing calls begin when the call begins to ring. Be sure to take note of how many minutes you have remaining by visiting My Q Link and entering your email as your username and your zip code as your password unless previously changed.

6. Will I be able to make international phone calls?

Yes! Q Link Wireless now offers affordable International Calling options for all its customers.

7. Is there a way to make free international or domestic calls without using my minutes?

Absolutely! No matter what plan you’re on, Q Link Wireless now provides high-quality smartphones that allow you to download free apps like Skype, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and Viber, making it easy for you to make voice or video calls with family and friends anywhere!

Simply connect your phone to Wi-Fi, make sure your family & friends have the same app on their phone, tablet, or computer, and follow these easy steps!

  • Make sure you’ve saved your friends’ and family’s phone numbers to the contacts list on your phone.
  • Download the Skype, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, or Viber to your free phone.
    PRO TIP: Some of these apps may come pre-installed on your phone!
  • Once downloaded, open the app to set it up. You may have to sign up for an account if you don’t already have one. If you see a pop-up asking for access to your contacts list, tap “Agree”.
  • Once you’ve finished setting up the app, your contact list will appear within it, and you can send messages or make free voice or video calls to any contacts who also have the app!

8. Will I be able to roam?

Yes, your Q Link Wireless phone will clearly display a “Roam” or “RM” indicator on your screen when you are located in a roaming area. While roaming, you can continue to make phone calls from your Q Link phone at no additional charge, other than using your own minutes. However, availability and quality of coverage while roaming varies and is not guaranteed.
 
 



9. How do I make a 911 emergency call using my Q Link Wireless phone?

Q Link Wireless customers have free access to 911. However, if you attempt to call 911 in an area where there is no wireless coverage, your call may not successfully go through. In this rare event, please dial 911 from your nearest landline phone.

According to public safety officials, you should be able to provide your current location information whenever making a 911 emergency phone call. In contrast to landline phones, a variety of factors (for example: your location, your device’s GPS capabilities and the local emergency service providers’ equipment) can help 911 operators determine your phone number, location and the location of your device.

Sometimes, emergency service providers may route your emergency call to a local state patrol dispatcher or another set location. GPS technology may also be used to help provide your location; this is called Enhanced 911 service, or E911. Whenever available, E911 sometimes doesn’t provide the most accurate location information. This usually happens if you place your call indoors or your device cannot acquire an accurate satellite signal.

Furthermore, some cell phones include a safety feature that locks the keypad after dialing 911. If this is the case, simply follow the emergency service providers’ voice prompts.
 
 




11. Can I get more than one Lifeline phone?

No. The Federal Lifeline program only allows one free wireless or landline phone per “household.” Separate households that live at the same address are eligible, including residents of homeless shelters and nursing homes, for example. Residents with temporary addresses are also eligible.
 
 



12. What does “one per household” mean?

According to the Federal Lifeline program, a household is defined as “any individual or group of individuals who live together at the same address and share income and expenses.”

Q Link Wireless is limited to one Lifeline benefit per household. Households are also not allowed to receive Lifeline benefits from multiple providers. If you receive service with another Lifeline provider, you must cancel that service in favor of Q Link Wireless.
 
 




14. Do I have to buy a phone?

No. Q Link Wireless sends its customers one FREE phone as part of their service. Any phones beyond the first can be upgraded or replaced at any time for a small fee.

Also, if you already have a phone number and would like to use it with your Free Q Link phone, you can transfer that number, free of charge!

16. Can I give away my Q Link Wireless phone to friends or family?

You can let your friends or family borrow your phone, but you cannot let them have it. Q Link Wireless’ service is non-transferrable, meaning it must be used by you and you alone. However, you can refer your friends or family to Q Link Wireless with our Refer–A–Friend program; just ask them to sign up by going to www.qlinkwireless.com/signup/. For each qualified and approved friend you refer to Q Link Wireless, you’ll receive 100 free bonus minutes and 100 MB of data.
