Why We Do It

Q Link Wireless understands that life-essential communication technologies are not a privilege, but a necessity. Today, being able to wirelessly call family, friends, co-workers, job opportunities and emergency services is a fundamental need.

Combining our resolve to provide free cell phones and Lifeline service with our years of experience pioneering the industry, we ensure that tens of millions Americans can receive quality wireless services at reasonable rates.

How We Do It

Q Link Wireless is able to offer free and discounted wireless services because we are an approved provider of the Federal Lifeline Assistance program. The Lifeline Assistance program was created in 1984 by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) under Ronald Reagan, and updated in 1996. It allows low-income individuals who cannot afford a mobile phone to obtain one at affordable rates, ensuring they have basic communication services that helps them live safely and productively.

The Lifeline Assistance program is funded by collective fees that construct the Universal Service Fund (USF). These USF fees are collected by all wireless service providers. Created in 1997 by the FCC, the USF meets universal service goals to monetarily contribute towards the safeguarding and advancement of accessible and reasonable communication services.

How It Works

Q Link Wireless offers free cell phones and Lifeline service to eligible Americans who are currently enrolled in a government benefit program or meet certain income criteria for their state. Examples of government benefit programs that meet qualifying criteria include Food Stamps, Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income. Specific eligibilities vary for each state. Lifeline service is limited to one account per household, and individuals cannot have another Lifeline or Link-Up subscription.
